Dryers

Why buy an expensive dryer and waste all that power? A little manual on the roof works just fine.

  1. Oh, Japanese houses and apartments are filled with wet cloths hanging all over the place. 🙂 Year round. Laundry. Futons. Whatever. It is just part of life here. Nice weather, it all goes outside (sometimes just hanging out of small windows due to the lack of space for yards), and in bad weather the stuff hangs inside. Very simple.

  2. This works well if you have enough sun where you live. Unfortunately in Portland, we would be festooning all of the insides of our house with laundry since we don’t have a covered outside space. The photo you posted looks like it would be similarly exposed to the elements. Back in the 80s, people from Tokyo always complained about “dirty rain.”
