For the last few weeks I have been playing around with Buteyko breathing exercises. Wild experience, I must say. Started out with a CP of 5 seconds, which is obviously pathetic, but can now easily get to 15. Immediate goal is 40. Eventually 60. Initial results? Sleep apnea cut in half. Daily sore throat upon waking gone. Congestion gone. Doing regular breath holds throughout the day. Focusing on 100% nasal breathing, even during intense workouts. But the biggest surprise is the change in perception. Everything. Slows. Down. Thoughts come in slower. Reactions reduce. Talking is more gentle. Eating is more mindful. It all calms down. Sleeping and meditating are significantly easier too so this is one seriously effective tool for focusing the mind.
